My baby!
Oh man I can’t believe how much I’ve missed writing to you. Life has been insane the past week+. I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to grab a few minutes to keep you up to speed. But your big fat dad is back. I’m currently sitting at Newark airport waiting for my flight down to Charlotte. We got some 2020 planning meetings with my clients, but luckily I just fly down this morning and come back home tomorrow night. Last week I spent a few days in LA for planning meetings with another client. I hate leaving mom, it really sucks. And the time difference when you fly to and from California is the worst. You end up tired when you get there from the flight and the fact that you’re adding 6 hours to your day and then you lose so much time on the way back.
Here are some pics I grabbed while I was out there:
Mom and I have been UP AGAINST IT the past few days. It feels like we can’t get ahead of anything. BUT in a bit of good news, we finally decided on a car and we’re mere inches away from pulling the trigger. The first car you’ll ever sit your little booty in will be… drumroll please… a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL in Rainforest! We REALLY tried to make the Volkswagen Atlas happen, but the numbers weren’t favorable. Here in 2019, we’re going to end up paying a sticker price of $34,355 with $500 off. We’re putting $6K down and getting $3K for our Scion as a trade-in. On the financing side, we’re getting 0% APR for 72 months, no pre-payment penalty. Figured it might be good to have some context around how much a car cost back when we were shopping. I feel like those details fall off when we get older and then the number gets exaggerated one way or another. Like I was saying about being up against it, the day after we looked at the car and decided we thought we might want it, the Scion crapped out on us. Steering wheel just stopped working. Which happened a few months ago, too. Luckily, we were planning on getting dinner with grandpa already, so he let us draft off some of his battery juice. Fingers crossed we can get it to Sansone on Saturday, and they take it off our hands! It’s been a great car and there’s definitely something about it I’m going to miss. Lots of fun miles on that thing with Mom. Fit into a lot of spots in that thing too. I always gave it a hard time, but it’s been good to us.
Alright enough about the car. Yesterday was mom’s birthday so Saturday night I took her out to dinner to celebrate. We went to a place in Brooklyn called Concord Hill. Really pretty place with some good food. Mom LOVED her dessert, a chocolate cake with raspberry drizzle and chocolate ganache. Mom turned 31. Going to be the best year of her life and I can’t wait to see her with you. Here she is looking just perfect.
Outside of that we’ve both been feeling real bogged down with work. Feels like there’s so much to do every day and the pressure is mounting. And now we’ve got the holidays coming up which means there’s a crunch to spend different budgets, secure budgets for the following year – just a lot going on.
Okay once we have pictures of the new car, I’ll share with you so you can see what it looks like brand new.
Love you big time,
Dad
