You! My beanie girl! My squiggler!
It’s been 84 years (Titanic reference) since my last letter to you. I have no good excuse. I’m on a computer all day every day for work. Which has been kicking my ass, but that’s not a good enough reason. I think the real reason is that when I’m not working, I’m actually spending time with you and mom. But that’s also kinda BS because in the morning I wake up early and go for a walk so I could theoretically write to you then. Okay, enough about why I’m not writing - I’m here now.
Over the past 3 months you have grown up SO much. I feel like a broken record but it’s insane how big you are now. So smart. So funny. Such a great personality. You’re inquisitive and aggressive and sweet and silly. You love to make mom and I laugh and you’re really good at it. You bop around this apartment getting into all kinds of trouble. Opening cabinets, bags, taking things out, moving them around - we can’t find anything! lol You close doors now, you dance ALL THE TIME, you knock on the door when you want to come visit me while I’m working and you LOVE your mama. I mean love. Like mom can’t go to the bathroom without you craning your neck around chirping “mama? mama? mama?” - and then you get up from wherever you are and go hunt her down. At night when we try to put you to sleep only mama will do. The past few days you’ve started to make this really silly shocked face that we can’t get enough of. You say all kinds of words now. Most recent additions are “more” and “purple”. You say “memaw” about Macy the dog, who we all call may may. This weekend you said “peekaboo”. You are a huge fan of dogs and always ask me to take you outside to see woo woo’s by reaching your arms up to me or mimicking knocking on the door and saying “woo woo?”. You love trying on shoes and you like to wear sunglasses for about 5 seconds or the amount of time it takes to show mom and I that you have them on and for us to yell “cool girl!” at you lol. You eat almost everything we give you which is great and you love to eat bananas. And mom’s pink guava Starbucks drink.
During the day while I’m working it breaks my heart that I can’t be with you and mom even though I’m only a room away. Mom does such an amazing job of taking care of you every day and teaching you new things. You guys have so much fun together. In case you didn’t know it, she’s the fun mom. Lot of laughs in this apartment and lots of music. On the rare occasion when you stay the night at grandma and grandpa’s we miss you so much and feel like there’s a part of us that’s not here. Sounds straightforward but it’s very real.
In terms of life, we’re still battling coronavirus so everyone has to wear masks outside in public and I continue to work from home. Vaccines are now ready so they’re starting to give them to older folks with health issues. Which means my mom and dad both got their first dose and somehow mom’s dad did too. Eventually we’ll all get it but that seems so far away. I can’t wait until we don't have to wear masks everywhere and be so hyper cautious. We feel like we can’t really explore ATL because of the virus, feels irresponsible. Other than that, life goes on. We’ve been looking at houses online to see what we can afford around here. There aren’t many available so if we find one we like, we’re gonna have to act quick.
Huge news I need to document here - the Knicks are pretty good! We have an all-star in Julius Randle, a nice young core around him and we went into the all-star break at 19-18. It’s rare so going to enjoy it now.
Not sure when grandma and grandpa are going to come down to visit but I hope it’s soon. You’ve already changed so much since they last saw you. I’m just nervous about them flying. They’re going to mess it up somehow lol.
In other news, I’m still going strong with Mission 148 - down 26 lbs so far and I’ve got another 2+ months left so staying focused. Outside of all her love and attention on you, Mom is major bored with life and I don’t know how to help. There’s not much to do other than hang with you or go to grandma and grandpa’s. Hopefully as it continues to get nicer you guys can go on more adventures. She took you on a few walks this week, which I think is awesome.
Can’t think of much else so going to drop some photos down there.
Love you big time,
Dad
