Hi.

Have a look at your life, one post at a time.

Hi hi –

Just want you to know that I’m going to raise you to appreciate music with piano and saxophone. False God off Taylor Swift’s new album features some sax and it sounds fucking awesome. BUT she missed a chance to include a nice little sax solo. My parents used to play Kenny G on the weekends, and I loved it. I also took a classical musical class in college. Learned about Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, all that. Can’t say I was blown away, but it showed me how structure in music is so important. You can set up a satisfying resolution for the listener by creating tension. I’m so excited to share my passion for music with you! We’re gonna write the shit out of some fuckin bangers, lemme tell ya. I’m gonna have you writing music before you can walk or talk. One day I would love to have a music studio in our house. Or in a garage in the back to cook up some fire tracks. And you’re gonna grow up on everything. Your musical foundation is gonna be crazy so that when you’re creating your own stuff, you’ll have a whole catalog in your brain. Fingers crossed you get the creative bug!

This morning I weighed myself and I clocked in at 231.8. The road to 220 is paved with lots of green leafy vegetables and sweat equity. I’ve been working hard. The last 10 will probably be real hard but I’m up for the challenge. I’ve been thinking about alternative workouts to keep myself interested. I think I’m going to work in more jumping exercises. Obviously part of my fitness focus is vanity and self-motivated but I was thinking about it and I also really want to set a good example for you.

I can’t believe how fast time is flying. It’s going to be September in a few days and then January is gonna be here before we know it. You’re going to be here so soon! Your little butt and your little feet and your little sounds. God, mom is gonna die when she sees you. She’s gonna be such an awesome mom. I can see both sides, her loving you beyond belief and her being super real with you. I’m more ethereal, high level concepts – mom is the bones of the operation. I’m the muscle, mom’s the navigator. Together we rationalize and decide on stuff. It’s so perfect and like I mentioned before, it’s all based on healthy, honest communication. We respect each other, we acknowledge each other’s feelings and we share common goals. I hope you get to experience love like ours someday. Obviously, we’re going to love you beyond belief, but to feel like you have a support system who will always have your back is amazing. It makes you more confident and more vulnerable than you knew you could be – all in a good way.

Can’t wait to share the world with you.

Love you big time,

Dad

P.S.

I came back to share a few pieces of life advice:

·      No one, and I mean no one, cares about your dog as much as you do – so don’t waste everyone’s time and pull out your phone to show them a picture of your dog because it will only inevitably result in “omg, so cute!” no matter how mundane or boring or cute your dog is

·      If Instagram is still a thing or whatever social platform you’re using, no one cares about the video you’re getting at a concert. No one can hear it, no one can see it. It’s just useless. Savor the memory and be present. 99/100 times some weirdo with a professional camera will put the concert up on YouTube if you want to go back and relive it (you will never do that).
