Afternoon Avery -
I’m back at work :/ Missing you and mom big time today. I woke up with you at 4am and spent some time feeding and changing you so I got to see you a little bit today at least. I woke up to a text from Pat that his baby girl was born last night! Her name is Cynthia Nancy. Here he is with her.
Mom sent me a pic of you this morning. You were crying which is sad but still funny and cute. Look at that lip! lol
Alright, finally today I came across this list of things that a dad is supposed to teach his son but I altered it because all of these things make sense for me to teach my beautiful baby girl. The world is every bit as much yours as it is any mans. Remember that! You can you do anything you want in life.
1. Never shake a person’s hand sitting down.
2. Don’t enter a pool by the stairs.
3. In a negotiation, never make the first offer.
4. Request the late check-out.
5. When entrusted with a secret, keep it.
6. Hold your heroes to a higher standard.
7. Return a borrowed car with a full tank of gas.
8. Play with passion or don’t play at all…
9. When shaking hands, grip firmly and look them in the eye.
10. Don’t let a wishbone grow where a backbone should be.
11. You marry the guy, you marry his family.
12. Be like a duck. Remain calm on the surface and paddle like crazy underneath.
13. Experience the serenity of traveling alone.
14. Never be afraid to ask out the best looking guy in the room.
15. Never turn down a breath mint.
16. Try writing your own eulogy. Never stop revising.
17. Eat lunch with the new kid.
18. After writing an angry email, read it carefully. Then delete it.
19. Ask your mom to play. She won’t let you win.
20. Manners maketh the person.
21. Give credit. Take the blame.
22. Stand up to Bullies. Protect those bullied.
23. Write down your dreams.
24. Take time to snuggle your pets, they love you so much and are always happy to see you.
25. Be confident and humble at the same time.
26. In all things lead by example not explanation.
I know it’s corny but those are some pretty good things to keep in mind. I’ll show you as we go, hopefully by example.
Love you big time,
Dad
