Hi baby -
Tuesday and the coronavirus is dominating the news. Spreading from country to county and killing hundreds of people. Now, there’s definitely a hysteria element fueling the fire but I can’t lie and say I’m not a little worried. People have started stocking up on bread and water and toilet paper. Just today the first case hit Staten Island. It’s scary stuff. I’ve talked about potentially working from home to avoid bringing anything home to you. I’m hoping my office puts in a mandatory WFH policy for everyone but we’ll see. Lot of hand washing and not touching things when I’m out in public.
In other news, yesterday I opened a Vanguard ETF account and bought one stock of VOO, a fund that tracks the S&P 500. Historically over the past 40 years that has been a safe investment. Even through the recession of 2009, if you kept your money in there or added more to it, you would have seen significant returns in the year since. I talked to mom about it and she’s in favor of placing a few bets now while we don’t have a mortgage and have a decent amount of money saved up. Here’s hoping these bets pay off.
At work I’m developing a choose-your-own adventure Twitter thread which could be pretty cool as long as we don’t get negative feedback from our audience. Fingers crossed. Think that’s about it for now. Telling my mom and dad about our decision to move is looming but not for you to worry about.
Here’s you from last night. Lighting is equally bad in different directions for both pictures but I swear you’re the cutest.
Love you big time,
Dad
