Sup plumpkin?
Mom went to the doctor yesterday and everything checked out! You’re healthy, growing well, forming all the good parts and your heartrate is strong. Big relief until our next appointment. I get so nervous.
And in other good news, I finally felt you kick a little bit last night! Mom thinks I didn’t have enough of a reaction, but I didn’t know what to do. It was cool, but I was more shocked than anything. I think it’s different for her. I also have a buddy who said he almost cried when he felt his kid kick and like an idiot, I told your mom, so I think there was an expectation there. In any case, I was excited. It was the softest kick so maybe once I feel it a bit more it’ll hit different. I was honestly happier to hear that you’re healthy in there. That’s my main concern.
Today is Friday and it’s pretty chill at the office. Bunch of people went out for a birthday party last night so there’s a big hung over vibe in here. I was invited but I like to get home to mom. We ended up going for Spanish food, which was a big disappointment. There’s a place on the other side of the island that makes banginnnnn Spanish food, but last night was whack.
A former colleague reached out and wants to connect. He’s heading up some digital work at another agency now and I think he’s looking to recruit me. To be honest, I’m pretty happy where I am but I think I need to keep my options open with you on the way. Strong opportunities to make more money don’t come around every day and I think he might be building out a team. We shall see.
Think I mentioned this already, but tomorrow we’ve got the family reunion with grandma’s side of the fam. Should be pretty cool.
Random aside – country music is fucking awesome. It’s perfect for so many moments in life. It’s great to throw on at the beach, or on a car ride with the windows down, or if you’re ever on a boat/lakeside. Just a good vibe. Today I’m really jamming to some Thomas Rhett. He’s got a radio station on Spotify and it’s pumping some chill jams to work to. Also, I’m 100000% officially washed. I just don’t like rap anymore. If it came out after like 2009, I’m not into it. Just all-time lame guy move. Sure, there are songs here or there, but I used to be waiting for new rap to drop. Now I have to google who people are. Lots of “lil’s” and “yung’s” out there now.
I started reading about financial steps to take when you’re expecting a newborn. Some good advice out there. One thing I hadn’t considered – borrowing a bassinet. I’m thinking of maybe asking Kristen if we can borrow hers since by the time your born, I would assume Charlotte will be out and about.
Life advice time:
- Drink a lot of water
- Don’t be afraid to ask for things. If you don’t ask, you won’t get.
- Be really great at what you do, but don’t be a try-hard… nobody likes that person. Be chill.
- There’s going to be things in life you don’t want to do. Not advice just trying to prep you.
- Talk to your friends and ask them how they’re doing. I have too many passive relationships and I want you to feel fulfilled.
- Treat old people like people. Far too often in our society, the elderly get overlooked or forgotten, but they’re people with experience and perspective.
- Smoke a little weed but pick your spots. Don’t become a functional pothead.
- All politicians are liars, telling you what they think you want to hear so you vote for them.
- YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. ANYTHING!
- Life is a bunch of cycles, so if you see an opportunity to initiate an old cycle in a new way and make some money – go for it. Bell bottoms will come back in style someday. Maybe make a new dope version people can’t live without.
Love you big time,
Dad
